LED Measurement
Ocean Optics spectrometers and accessories can be configured to measure absolute or relative irradiance of LEDs and other radiant sources, with a variety of optical fixtures, calibrated sources and other tools for convenient measurements. Use our components and software to determine absolute spectral intensity values (in watts, joules, lumens or candela), color parameters (including X, Y, Z and L*, a*, b*), and features such as dominant wavelength, peak wavelength, centroid and FWHM. Also, setups can be integrated into LED testing and binning machines for quality control in LED manufacturing, helping to ensure consistency in spectral output and color.

Overview
When coupled with the optimum sampling accessories, the Ocean HDX spectrometer is an excellent choice for measuring the color, relative power and absolute spectral intensity of LEDs.
Sample LED Measurement Setup
Ocean Optics offers various spectral tools for relative and absolute irradiance measurements. A typical irradiance application is measurement of the absolute spectral intensity and color of LEDs. In this setup we show an Ocean HDX spectrometer connected via fiber to an integrating sphere, which collects the sample.
A NIST-traceable power supply powers the LED and adjusts the drive current. The power and color of the LED are determined by comparing the LED to a radiometrically calibrated VIS-NIR source (not pictured) designed for use with an integrating sphere. Operating software completes the system and is used to calculate features such as dominant and central wavelength.
