Environmental Monitoring
[rev_slider Environmental-Monitoring-Landing-Slider]
As Ocean Optics spectrometers have become faster, more powerful and easier to integrate into other devices, environmental monitoring applications once considered impractical outside the lab are now achievable. Bringing the spectrometer to the sample is critical for air and water quality monitoring, remote sensing and volcanic research, where real-time, in situ measurements help to analyze existing conditions and monitor trends.
Our customers use Ocean Optics UV, Vis and NIR spectrometers, optical sensors and accessories for an array of environmental applications: open-path air quality monitoring in cities, sulfur dioxide analysis in volcanoes and coral reef fluorescence as an indicator of ecosystem health. Also, remote sensing measurements of dry lakebeds, cropland and coastline have been conducted from ground-based spectrometers and units aboard both manned and unmanned aerial vehicles. These are just a few applications that benefit from the flexibility of our spectrometers.
Applications:

Air & Water Quality Analysis
Chemical, biological and other parameters can be measured in situ with portable, flexible and robust UV-Vis and NIR spectrometers.

Remote Sensing
Ocean Optics spectrometers can be used separately or embedded into other devices to monitor conditions in environments not easily accessible or too hazardous for in situ measurements.

Volcanology
Portability, UV response, flexibility. Ocean Optics spectrometers are ideal for measuring the emission of sulfur dioxide and other volcanic gases.
