How do I maintain my reflectance standard?
The black glass used in the STAN-SSL low-reflectivity standard is very durable, and the aluminum coating in the STAN-SSH high-reflectivity standard is protected with an overcoat, yet users should handle the standards with care. The surface should not be touched by hands or objects to avoid contamination and damage.
To clean the reflectance surface, first remove dirt and dust using a pressurized gas. Remove fingerprints and residual contaminants by slowly dragging across the surface a lens tissue saturated with reagent-grade isopropyl alcohol or acetone. Applied correctly, the solvent will evaporate uniformly with no streaking or spotting.
